Winona, MN Area ~ June 26-28, 2017
Escaped for a summer motorcycle ride and camping trip. Decided to head to the LaCrosse, WI & Winona, MN. 3 days riding our motorcycle through the Driftless Region along the Mississippi River and camping in our Roadtrek.
First night we stayed at Great River Bluff State Park. Nice campground but also not comfortable with our setup. So we opted to move to a different location. Spent a good chunk of the next day looking for a new campground. Ended up at Pla-Mor Campground… a nice private campground which fit us perfectly.

The next day we visited the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona. Very nice art museum! Pleasantly surprised with the art it had curated including several pieces by Picasso, Renoir, Monet, Gauguin, etc. Also had 1 of 2 remaining copies of Emanuel Leutze’s Washington Crossing the Delaware.
After the visit, hung with Jim outside on the museum grounds which are nestled along the Mississippi and watched the tug boats move the barges.

After we hopped back on the motorcycle and headed to the National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN. This is a rescue and educational center for raptors including eagles, falcons and hawks. Very interesting and, again, the Center was nestled on the Mississippi so the grounds were beautiful.
We then ate on the patio of Slippery’s and watched all the house boats go by. Ya, I think we need to rent one of these and travel the Mississippi. Looks like a blast!
Great day tooling around on the motorcycle and visiting this part of MN!
