After our first night of sleep in Mexico, we woke to near perfect weather so George & I decided to check out the beach which was about 2 KM from our campground. Jim took the Vespa and decided to check out the town in the daylight and met up with us on the beach a bit later.

After playing, Jim and I hopped on the Vespa in an attempt to see if we could find our elusive campground we were originally to stay at. After driving up and down TAM 52 numerous times, attempting to talk to some of the locals and making a phone call to the campground, we finally found it. No wonder we missed it. The place looked vacant and had no sign. The owner assured us it was open and must have called the caretaker because suddenly a young man appeared. We were told they were open but did not feel comfortable with the condition of the campground nor were we confident the individual that appeared was truly the caretaker and not a squatter.
As we headed back to the Tropicana Bungalow & Campground we stopped for gas only to make the mistake of locking our Vespa keys in the back carrying case! Oops!! Fortunately we had a second set of keys but they were back at the campground which was several KM away. Realizing we had no choice, we began the trek back to the campground on foot. Once there, we faced yet another problem… NO KEYS!
Yep, we couldn’t find the second set keys anywhere! Face palm! Not gonna lie… things got a bit tense at this point. This was only Day #2, and we have lost a campground and a set of keys! Not a good start. Fortunately after about an hour of frantic searching and some cross words with each other, we found the damn things. Needless to say, organization quickly occurred as we agreed where things like keys were to be placed when not in use.
The joys of travel!
